Hi all,

I am a new member that just collected my MY10 RX sportback this morning.

Have been searching through 2nd hand car market for quite a long time and end up getting a brand new lancer.

Great safety rating, long warranty, long feature list and only car in its class have a hatchback with larger cargo volume. However has anyone notice that road noise level , seem to be excessive on some road surface?

Welcome to ClubCJ.
To answer you Question......YES.
the road noise is excessive.
sound deadening is the way to go.
+ changing your tyre brand...that has helped in some cases.
But you could do what i do and just turn the stereo up lol.
enjoy the club.

My car is really quiet now I have changed from Yoko tyres. That is the biggest issue.

Try and go something with a silica compound for maximum quietness. May not be such a performance tyre though.

EDIT: Welcome to ClubCJ. I am so rude :P

Performance doesn't really matter to me, i just need my family to enjoy a trip to the outback or to the beach

Hey there Ken, welcome to ClubCJ.

The road noise can be a bit much for some people, I'll agree. 2009 and above have a little more sound deadening then the 2008's did but it is still not quite enough.

As others have said, more can help. With regard to extra sound deadening; specialist car audio outlets will install dynamat (or similar) for you OR you can buy retail packs of dynamat and install it yourself. Just doing the doors can make a marked improvement.

Changing brands of tyres probably makes the most difference. Any of the big tyre outlets should be able to advise you which tyres in which brands will best suit your requirements. As a general rule, though, Performance tyres are noisier then non-performance ones.

Best of luck withe the car.

i think other the noise (which i intend to solve immediately) it is an outstanding car.

Great drive and handling, moving from a VX commodore the feel and drive is comparable or even better in many aspects. Bought the previous model of corolla, the drive feel is soooooo un-save. Maybe that is just me :>

On top of that, didn't know that there was such a big group of lancer lover out there.
