Hi guys,
About to purchase an 08 CJ ES as a daily and have just a couple of questions about suspension and wheels.
Will EVO IX coilovers fit an ES? And if not, is it the tops that are different, or the bottom section?
And wheels, will 18 x 9.5 +25 fit nicely on an ES like they do on a IX?
Cheers!

No expert but its a safe bet the EVO 9 suspension won't fit the CJ.

Ah ok, no worries. Looks like I might just go with springs then.
How about the wheel sizes? Will they be too aggressive, or look the same as an EVO 7/8/9?

Welcome!
I'm not sure on the wheels but if someone doesn't respond I'm sure there's a topic on it, try doing a search or I'll have a look later.

Thanks guys, yeah random questions I know haha. But planning for a 9 so just seeing what can and can't be re-used. The wheels I will probably just get anyway and if they sit out a bit far I'll see what rolling/pumping can be done. Maybe some camber too. The size isn't too extreme though so hopefully it's alright. The coil overs would have been nice but springs will have to do. Any brand/set up people recommend? Preferably some springs that lower the front more than the rear?

you're gonna have issues fitting those wheels, especially if you're not getting coilovers. But even then, you'll need some mad camber. Coilovers can do it if they are fully adjustable at the front, but the rears you won't get more than -1.4deg out of them, which won't be enough. So you'll most likely need custom camber arms for the rears. I could be wrong, but it won't be easy.
Also, pulling fenders won't be that easy. The front and rear bars are plastic, and cannot be pulled really. The guards can be pulled a bit, but don't expect too much.

I think I'll just have to deal with it. I plan on having an evo 9 mid next year so I don't really want to buy things I can't transfer over. Coilovers are one of those things. If they were interchangeable then I would get some, but apparently they aren't so springs will have to do. Does anyone have 18x9.5 +25 or around that currently? I've seen a ralliart with 18x9.75 +20 and that seemed to sit well. Are the ralliart guards that much wider than the es?

Alright well in that case the size should be fine! Thanks for that
