Hey everyone, my name is Jarred and it's a pleasure to be a part of the CJ Lancer Club!
I've never really been a car guy, but that kinda changed about 3 weeks ago when I picked up my brand new Lancer ES Sport, 5sp Manual. It wasn't until I drove it home on the highway, getting used the drive, steering and gear ratios, I found that I was at 100-110km winding 4th up at a rev range that I cant remember, I thought "Far out man......I wasn't expecting this!!!" I wanted to top end it right then and there!!!! The engine just feels like it wants/needs to keep going. Ever since then I've just driven normally, with more than a few acceleration squirts every so often in particular gears at certain rev ranges, all random stuff to teach the car/ECU how I want it to perform. I think I also found the speed limiter in it the night, but I was at the point of backing off the power anyway so I'm not sure if it was it or not. It was 180km anyway.
My driving style actually has changed slightly in order to allow for the car's increased power capacity. So hopefully when I go for my 1500km tomorrow they don't tell me that I've broken something already, cos that'd be a real downer!!!
I have a plan of things I want to do the car as soon as I am able to and I will be asking a lot of stupid questions, cos I don't much about cars, but I pretend like I do. I'm not going crazy mad with the mods, but I want to get it to the higher ends of the cars potential. it's actually quite exciting to think about the possibilities!!
I look forward to meeting and talking to everyone here, and I wish everyone lots of luck, an abundance of safety and a f**k load of awesome times driving / flogging their respective Mitsubishi machines, and hopefully to keep a couple of demerit points while they're at it!!!!
Take care people. Peace
"Cos it's just not enough to drive the car at 150km/h. I want to take the 0 - 149km part out to get there!"
