Hey there guys and gals, My name is Natasha, but please, call me Tash...

Im from the Newcastle Area in NSW, Australia...

I have recently (finally) bought myself a 2008 CJ VRX lancer... I have been wanting another lancer since i sold my 1993 coupe lancer back in 2011... It was a regretful sale, but one that had to be done, as i didnt have the cash to fix it...

My New lancer is a 2008 CJ VRX Lancer, Gun metal Grey with current mods being: aftermarket wheels, stereo system and im pretty sure the exhaust is aftermarket too, but i could be wrong...

My General interests are: Roadtrips with my boyfriend, my job (im an aged care nurse), Facebook, spending time with my family, reading non-fiction novels, and listening to music! 8)

Planned Mods: I need to get the stereo fixed, as whoever has done it, has done a bodgy job of it, so i currently only have 1 working speaker and one that works 90% of the time, but cuts out when i hit a bump... lol one of my PET HATES :P , So yehh, that is something i will be getting fixed in the near future... Not sure what else i wanna do to it yet, as i have only had the car for a week!! :)

This forum was a totally random find, and i hope to see/read/learn heaps from you guys and girls, and maybe even meet up on a few cruises with you all! :) I found it when looking on youtube for a tutorial on how the stereo/dash is installed/uninstalled and the video i watched had the link to this forum on it... so i came to check it out :)

Please be gentle, im only new to all this!! :)

Welcome to the club.

You will find alot of useful information on here, and lots of helpful people too. Nice score on the car. With the speakers, sounds like a loose wire to be honest. I'd rip the door trim out and check behind the speakers first.

Post up some pics of the car too. :)

Also, cudos on being a aged care nurse... got lots of respect for those doing that kinda work.

+1 on the loose speaker wire. Door trim is the first port of call. With the speaker exposed, play some music and fiddle with the speaker wires. If it cuts out, you've found your problem.

If not...well that's another post in the audio forum!

Thanks all :) yeh that's what I was thinking.... But I'm a little bit nervous about pullin this car apart because of all the air bags and power stuff lol ... This is the first expensive car Ive owned. Haha I'm thinking about takin it to this car stereo guy around the corner and just getting it all redone, coz it came with an amp and it's all wired up but doesn't work.....

Welcome Tash are you my twin?

I also have a 93 coupe which also broke down, so took the plunge into a 09 VRX. I still have the coupe which I plan to fix and sell off to help fund some mods to the CJ.

Yes fixing the stereo should be easy, unless its an internal problem. First check should be the speakers. Not to hard to remove the door trims but you may need to check behind the head unit also.

ETA - yes if you have any concerns about taking things apart or mucking with the wires then get an expert to check it out, if its just loose connections they should only charge for their time.

:) 8) :welcome:  :P

It'll be a loose wire - either at the back of the head unit or the speaker - easiest to start by popping off the door trims, grab hold of the speaker wire and wiggle it... just a little bit... :-)

Thanks all :) I might , key word, "might" pull the door trim off and have a look at the wires... I don't even know if it still has stock speakers in it or aftermarket ones lol
