Audio Installation

Hey Guys,

I'm looking at getting a sub with a built in amp installed under the passenger seat.

I spoke with a few auto electricians and they've given me some pretty exy quotes. I know there's no RCA plugs in the back of the stock head unit (which I want to keep to have the controls on the steering wheel) but it shouldn't be $350-$400 just to install a sub with built in amp surely?

Does anyone know of anywhere in Sydney that is good, any CJ friendly places?

Cheers

Brendan is right; I had a Pioneer underseat sub in my blue Lancer - the installers took a bit over an hour, picked up a high-level input from the LHS front door and it worked really well - made a big different to the sound, I was very happy with it.

As it's a Platinum, I guess you've already got tweeters in yours - if not, put a pair in - makes a huge difference.

From memory, I got charged about $140(isn) for the installation.

Depending on which sub youre looking at, some of them have high-level inputs which you just need to tap from a door speaker. If you were going to put it under the passenger seat, youd tap the rear left speaker from the harness in the B-pillar. Youd then need to get power to it, through the grommet in the firewall. Shouldnt take more than 30 mins all up.

This - it is easy once you start and there are plenty of how-to's. $300-400 is way way too much
