Hi just signed up to get as much info as i can before making up my mind as to which model to buy. Finances dictate that i will probably end up with a 2014 VRX but i would love to get my hands on a Ralliart, even if its a year or two old. I'll be poking around the forums for info but if anyone is inclined please feel free to private message me with info, thanks!
welcome!
RA's are cool but make sure ur happy to spend the $$$ when it comes time to service it.

Hey!
I just bought a 2014 Ralliart and I love it! bit more then the VRX but the best thing with new cars is the capped price servicing.... If memory serves its $180 for a minor and $320 for a major under the new car warranty.
See if you can get your hands on an ex demo as the price will be considerably less then something fresh off the showroom floor.
All the best buddy, there's plenty of really knowledgeable people here that can help you on this site!

I just bought an ES 'cos it was cheap; I've since spent about $3k making it look unique and pretty, and having had the car for a little while, I would like the larger engine in the VRX (as well as the bodykit).
If you're used to front-wheel drives, the VRX will be a hoot!
However, if you're like me and prefer a rear-wheel drive, I would definitely suggest you go for a good, two-year-old Ralliart - you'll still have plenty of warranty left and the car should still be in good nick mechanically.
I'd take my time, and find one that hasn't been too modified previously (if at all) - you don't always know the 'history' behind all the mods the previous owner has done... but also canvass dealers for demo or 2013-plated models - I saved $4k off RRP with mine! - you might get a bargain!
Cheers!

Welcome to the club!!
I'm prob a little bias as I own a RA and 2.5 yrs later everytimeci get out of car find myself saying "love that car", I'm a natural Mitsubishi advert lol
Depends on your driving style, budget and final intension for car. You could probaly get demo at good price and if you have good pokers face and can spend time holding out you could get a RA demo for around same price as VRX, I did.
I'd try and go new RA if you can so you have full warranty unless you intend add substantial performance mods. They are great car but sometimes odd things can happen. Mine was stock and not driven hard yet one off fault left me with nearly whole new driveline at 20,000km and took nearly 10,000km to finally fix. Don't be put off by that I'd still by another RA if I got another new car!
Think about the extra servicing costs and fuel too. I don't know what VRX's are like but my RA only gets 350 to 400 km out of 55 litre tank (mix highway and suburbs). RA has terrible turning circle because of diff compared to NA lancer I actually find it easier to reverse park everywhere unless to have room in car park to swing wide.
Test drive both! Or come along to a meet and chat to few members. Can't wait to hear what you go with

Thanks for the advice and warm welcome guys! I'm having a hard time finding an RA that hasn't been put through the wringer (trade ins) and i can't say i'm fussed on pre 2013 models as i was keen on the 9 speaker audio setup/reverse camera/etc. Unless i can come across an RA in the next two weeks in my area for $30K or less it's going to have to be a VRX. And yes i am keen on the RA for the power aspect, my current tank (stock N/A 152Kw and 305Nm torque RWD) so it will be hard for me to go to something like the VRX. I think the power to weight ratio is better than my current at least.
It's going to be a lease so i'm pretty sure i can't touch it mod wise until that expires. If i decide to keep it after that i will definitely look into modding and i've done a fair few things to my current car so i know the basics. I haven't made my mind up 100% yet so keep your opinions coming guys, thanks!
