Hey dudes, nice to meet all of you; Val from Perth
Hey dudes (and dudets if there are any),
I've been lurking on this site anonymously for a while and finally decided I'd say hi. I've been staying in Perth for a couple of years now and recently bought a 2008 VRX. Loved the CJ lancers looked right from the moment they came out and now I finally have one myself.
Thought I'd do a few visual upgrades though, to make it a little unique. I've decided to start with on installing some LED halos for the headlights. Complete DIY project, just bought the LED rings and will be working on putting them in and wiring them in the next couple of days.
Already got some friendly advice from people here, hopefully in the future I'll be able to contribute as well!
Will post some pics when halos are done!
Cheers!

Heya, thanks guys, I feel genuinely welcome lol
These are the halos I bought from EBay:
140mm diameter for the low Beams
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/321209999088 ... 1439.l2649
100mm diameter for the high Beams
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/221284477003 ... 1439.l2649
Real cheap, I was pretty happy when I got them. Here's a pic of one of them:
Took me about 5 hours to put them into the headlights. Standard procedure: remove bumper -> detach headlights -> bake them to get the lenses off -> glue the rings on -> put everything back together. Here's what it looks like after I wired them together:
Now my mission is to wire them to a switch in the cabin. Akram and Kirtis gave me some guidance on that already, cheers guys

If you are, be careful when you bake the lights. I accidentally started a little fire in my oven when a small piece of plastic melted off the headlight housing and landed on the oven heating element :p Don't set the temperature any higher than 105 degrees C

Metalstrix wrote:Nicely done.mate! How on earth did you get the measurements for the lights? I need to mention those measurements in the DRL thread. Are those halos good in daylight?
Thanks :] I did some web searching for the measurements and found the reflector diameters somewhere on a forum (don't remember where, sorry). To confirm the diameters I laid a sheet of paper over the headlight while it's on and measured the diameters of the lit up areas. Like on the pic below, but at night, so it was easier to see. Kind of a crude way, not perfectly accurate of course, but having laid the sheet flush to headlight and measuring the vertical diameter of the lit up circle, it backed up the measurements I found on the forum. The 140mm and 100mm rings I found on ebay seemed to match perfectly :]
The photos I posted earlier were taken on a perfectly sunny day, but they seem to be quite visible. I haven't looked at them from a distance yet, cause I gotta hold the wire to the battery terminal at the moment to turn them on, but I think they'll be quite bright. Certainly can't look at them directly for very long, they are blinding.
