Considering a CJ lancer

Hey guys,
Just decided to join the forum to do some research on CJ lancers, as im considering one for my next car. I was a little disappointed to find out all the N/A ones where FWD though, having owned a magna, that was the only downfall. Im now considering either another magna (Manual this time
) or a manual CJ lancer, if you have any tips or feedback i'd love to hear it.

I dont know of a small/Medium NA car that isnt FWD? Apart from the AWD Subota's. But Yea...take one for a test drive...im sure it wont dissapoint.

I just assumed that one of the sports model or higher grade one would be awd, like the evos. Because the impreza's are awd.

yep, the ralliart and evo are the only AWD`s in the range.

if you want a car with a bit more balls then go for the vex, can destroy a magna
but the 2L cj can keep up at launch and thats it, unless you do a few engine mods
but the cj looks better and is much more fuel efficient
also a lot more parts available for mods

I do believe there is a AWD version of the 2.4l Lancers, however, as far as I know we still don't have them in Australia... which is disappointing, because I agree, it would be good.
I had a FWD NA tho, and they were still good, get some good suspension and eliminate the wheel hop and she is good to go

The n/a cars don't need AWD as they simply handle like a dream even with the asc turned off, but when left on, if you enter a corner with speed and get understeer or depending on how U took the corner and get over steer the car will work its magic and either hold the car in that state around the corner/bend or straighten it up for you. Also if the car thinks you're going to fast around a corner it works its magic and you can not accelerate and it slows down to the speed it thinks is good so you don't lose traction. And being a FWD car it surprisingly doesn't suffer form too much understeer, so for the power it has being FWD is fine and you won't be able to tell

I see, I have experienced quite a bit of understeer driving my magna (100% stock 4spd wagon) though the hills, i imagine they are quite different. How are the cars on the straights?

The 2.4L is awesome, it can beat most things off the line, and if you need the power its just as simple as a down gear, so on straights for road use it has plenty of power, and for a nice open highway road noise isn't too bad, and the ride is smooth doing 100km/h + makes you want to check the Speedo to make sure your doing the speed limit as it feels like your only doing 60

Definitely a great car for your money. Looks great, fuel efficient and not a pain to maintain either.
It handles pretty well on stock suspension apart from it being a bit of a boat (well, mine is not sure how the other models are). Just a few handling mods and it just handles fantastically.
CJs are really good for mods as well, plenty available and a lot of them you can definitely do by yourself.

If you're tossing up between Auto/Manual, get manual, you won't regret it.
The only problem I have with the MT is every now and then I have to reclutch to go into reverse, however I'm pretty sure thats common among alot of cars. Oh well, doesn't bother me too much.

I vouch for everyone else who posted on this thread.
You won't regret the CJ at all. On top of that, you just joined the forum so you're part of us
. If you get a CJ and you have problems, we're all here to help you out.
Also Lancers are head turners as well. Like Jordan said, just, test drive them.
