I'm hoping someone can help save my skin....! I borrowed my friends lancer....and scratched the passenger side side skirt....

Yes....i know....I'm a horrible friend! so to remedy the situation I rang around and drove around a number of panel beaters asking for quotes and I can hardly believe the price to change it is .. $600???!! for one little strip of plastic!

can someone verify if i'm being ripped off or not?[/i]

Sounds about right, depending on the damage.

Any amount of work that requires stripping back the paint, filling the scratch (if needed), re-prime, re-paint, re-gloss, is going to cost around that.

Won't be much of a difference price wise if it's blend work (if they do just the area) or the whole panel or skirt in some cases. Once again depends on the amount of damage.

Oh that's so sad. It's a plastic strip that I thought would cost no more than $200 to buy a new one and no longer than 20 mins to fit.

I'd expect them to replace not fill it in

Guess I should just suck it up!

:-(

Thanks for getting back to me.

The side skirts you can buy and they aren't expensive but they come un-painted. So the prime, paint and gloss and labour involved will still add to the cost.

Actually I recently bought side skirts for some members in VIC. They do come painted. But Mits is now defaulting to white.

Thanks for the clarification Ofey :)

Well if the car is white, might be worth replacing it!
