I would say the manuals would accelerate quicker off the line because the CVTs suffer from some sort of lag trying to build power from rest. The latter, however, would theoretically attain a higher top speed due to the possibility of longer ratios as the self-shifters only have five speeds and the top gear may be too short for the car to go faster than it really can. Chuck in a sixth cog and it could be an entirely different story.
