Welcome to the club.
I went for the Sedan myself too, but it wasn't to do with the lights. More personal preference and I didn't like the view out the back. It's higher at the back then the Sedan, I test drove a Sportback and found the rear view a bit limited for my taste. I also didn't need the extra space.
I don't have much in the way of mods yet but I have a few on the way and others under consideration.

Rear vision mirrors and reverse sensors mate - the mirrors are standard equipment and the sensors a $300 dealer fit option - or like me you can get them chucked in for nothing!

Yeah, kinda what I was getting at when I said space - actually meant accessibility of said.
If I were toting around kids and prams and sporting equipment like my younger bro I probably would have got the SB; but I'm not so Hahah to him.

True, I use my mirrors a lot even in my sedan, still prefer the view out the back.

I guess I am used to driving trucks and buses, where the luxury of a view out the back window for reversing is lost - mirrors only (unless you are lucky to get a unit with a reverse camera!).
