Newbie with a question

Postby Marvo » Sat May 09, 2015 11:01 pm

Hey all, joined a while ago and browsed around..

Am from Brisbane with a family purposed CJ ( auto hatch)

Embarrassing question to ask - now due to lack of sleep, I accidentally filled my CJ with some diesel, and its now parked somewhere while I figure out what to do tomorrow...

My plan is to siphon out the diesel and fill it with petrol. Does the CJ have an anti-siphon thingy to stop me from doing that?

thanks guys

Welcome
Ouch man that's not good. Have u got it all sorted?
I'm not 100% sure but have been told that yes the lancers do have an anti syphon thing.
Best bet is to get in touch with ur local mechanic and get the car towed.
Have had this happen many times in my old work place.

:) 8) :welcome:  :P

Not good - you shouldn't risk it - if you can, get it towed and get the tank dropped out / drained...

Let us know how you went.

going to assume you didnt try to start it.

if your not comfortable doing the work get it towed to a mechanic.

you will need to drain the tank.

you can either drop the tank. or you can take out the rear seats to gain access to the fuel filter and pump assembly.
if you take out the pump you might be able to get a hose in there to siphon it out.

anyone who has done a fuel filter replacement may be able to chime in on that one.
Mine is coming up in 20,000kms

There is a free workshop manual on here which goes into detail on how to drop the fuel tank. Section 13B.
