I had the XB kit on my Evo MR when i bought it.
The exhaust sounds nice. I really liked it. No drone on the freeway and sounded great on the gas. nice and deep with no "buzz" if you know what i mean.

It is currently on a friend's car with an upgraded turbo and it still sounds great. I have no idea what it costs but it would be on my short list for sure. It is heavy as sin though. i swear they put lead weights in the rear muffler ;)

Re the workshop packages. I was asked the other day about a shop in Perth that offers a full exhaust / intake / dyno tune for $6,000!!! Makes MRT look cheap.
MRT numbers are based on their hub dyno.
I dyno'd my XB kit and it ran 202kw at the wheels. the claimed figure is 230kw i think?? usually the hub dyno reads ~12-13% higher i was told, so that is close i guess.

vermilioN wrote:Not trying to hijack the thread.. But as an example to back up my statement. MRT: XB Kit $5000 Aftermarket: Custom turboback exhaust, boost controller, WGA, tactrix, beeble road tune.. Around $1600 (you dont need the wga or boostcontroller but it would make a big improvement over the MRT kit)

Mitch you might be absolutely right and if it were me doing the mods, price would play a factor. For the previous owner, this obviously wasnt!

I personally would not have done anything but for maybe trying to get more air into the right areas...As noted I drove a mates stock Evo X MY11 and that was QUICK.

Welcome and Enjoy your car as is, but if you want to go a little further...
Get rid of the Ecuteck, throw on a 3 port and get Beeble to toon it... you will be much happier! and power should get close to 230 wkw even on the sadistical RTR dyno! :)

Excuse the ignorance but what is involved? Steep lurning curve, but what is the difference in the tune? What does 3 port allow?

I have noticed that you can tune for different ron i.e. an E85 - does that mean you can run E94 petrol? I have NFI!

3 Port allows better control of your boost pressure.
Ecutech hasnt got all the options the open source guys have at this stage.
Talk to Beeble about it if you want more information on it.. Very helpful guy.

I had the XB Kit... key word is HAD! :)

Welcome Leo! Great to see we finally have an Evo owner in SA on the forums. :D

Hope to see you around on the Sunday cruise, even if it's just at the meet point.

Welcome Leo to the club!
Nice choice in col our. My sis has a vrx in titanium and I did see an evo in that same col our last week, wonder if it was u.
As everyone in SA has said, we have a cruise coming up soon. It would be cool if u could make it to the meet point. Its nice to have an ego with us again, last time we cruised with evos was back in 2011. At one stage we had 3 evos attending-that made everyone very jealous :)
