New SX - gyr5

Postby gyr5 » Thu Nov 24, 2011 8:54 pm

Hey everyone, I recently purchased a shiney red Lancer SX sedan and I am loving it.

I am not planning any major mods but I have just had the windows tinted and put some nice black custome plates on, apart from some nice sheepsking seat covers that will be about it.

I have been reading these forums for a few weeks, there are some pretty nice looking Lancers around here and lots of great info.

I have about 800ks on the clock at the moment and heading off for the weekend to do a bit of a road trip of about 1200ks. I think I have it sorted how to turn off the 1500k service when it pops up so it doesnt anoy the buggery out of us....I am assuming it will beep or flash or something, and I plan on getting the 1500k service done next week. Bad timing with regards to the service but couldnt be helped.

One problem I have just discovered tonight is that my boot appears to be leaking, on both sides  I will have them look at it next week but has anyone else had this problem??

I was pretty annoyed when I discovered this today as the boot will be full of bags for the trip. Hubby seems to think its comming in from underneath somehow as theres no sign of water actually running in, there are two largish wet patches in the same spot on each side. After googling tonight I am wondering if it could be from the spoiler?

Thanks for all the information on here by the way its a great resource. :)

Welcome to the club Karen.

I have not heard of Lancers leaking water in the boot? Is it sedan or sportsback? It is probably the seal not sitting properly.

Do you park your car on a downward slope? This will stop the water from draining away.

Get Mitsubishi dealer to check at the first service.

Thanks aspir3, its a sedan, I dont park it on a downhill slope, its a mystery, I could not find much at all on here or via google to indicate its a known problem, so hopefully its something simple to fix, and hopefully our luggage stays dry over the weekend!

Hi Karen

Welcome to the club.

The thing to tell you it's time for a service only beeps when you first turn the car on a few times. Nothing too annoying.

That sucks about the water.

I've had my SX since February. I love it. The only thing I want is a decent set of sheepskin seatcovers too and maybe some personalised plates. I have a blue SX.

Yeah they're the ones I'm looking at too Karen :) The Deploy safe ones that are around $300 a set. Some weeks they're on special. I may be able to afford them soon :) I've asked for them for Mothers Day and my birthday and still haven't got them. I've given up and I'm going to get them myself. I've had lambswool seatcovers on every car I've ever owned. I miss them lol

Well regarding the leaking boot I dont know whats going on but our road trip was to Moree, 1500ks return trip, and if you have seen the news you will know there is a bit of water about up there! We drove in 7 hours of rain on the first day and through roads covered in water and the boot had dried out by the time we got there so I have no clue why it was wet before we left!

We were stranded for an extra day in Moree and drove out through water on the way home again today, and still the boot is dry. Its a mystery.
