Hi all . . . username is mon, real first name is John. I hail from Atherton, and my Lancer is a White 2009 VR. I had an MMCS added as an extra when I got the vehicle, but never bothered to get bluetooth/hands free installed at the time, cause my mobile was so crappy. I came across this club/forum while googling for a bluetooth/hands free kit, cause I finally got a decent phone that didnt drop out as soon as I got a kilometer out of town. Google found me an ad by fellow member milobob wanting to sell the kit I was after, and on reading it, I discovered that it was not compatible with the MMCS anyway, so one of the things I am hoping to find out is if there is a compatible kit available and where I can get it. But for now, I just wanted to introduce myself to you all
Thanks for the welcome guys. Now I am confused aspir3?? I have read about the bluetooth hands free in the MMCS manual, but my car does not have the hands free controls on the steering wheel?? . . . so I presumed I have to buy them, or the dash board button kit as an accessory to make it work?? Can you tell me more?? Thanks
I am not sure what you need. Mine were all standard when I bought my car. I would think you could either controls. I would fit the steering wheel ones if I did. Most things are plug and play. Eg the wiring loom will already be there. You just buy the switches and then plug in to the wiring loom. Some times Mitsubishi need to activate the function to work.
Talk to your dealer as they should know what is required.

thanks Aspir3, but I'm afraid my dealer (in the little Queensland country town of Atherton) had no idea, and actually quoted me the part that milobob had reported in his post in which he was wanted to sell the exact same kit, was incompatible with the MMCS. milobob has replied to me and told me I need the kit for the VRX but that it was really expensive. The problem is the MMCS was not standard in the VR and I had it put in as an optional extra . . . and the steering wheel controls for the bluetooth hands free were not standard either and I would have had to have them put in at the factory I think. The kit that is available, and that my dealer quoted me on is for a VR, but one that has NOT had the MMCS installed
mon wrote:hey Justin, thanks for the welcome . . . no I have not heard of them . . . only really been up here for the past 3 and a half years, caring for my folks when they both became unwell, so although I have met lots of people, I have not come accross any Barlettas yet
Its a big family.. we own the local Pub i believe.. anyway enough of the ranting.. have you tried another Mitsu dealer?
Sounds boring, I know, but I am not so big on going to pubs, but I do know where the three of them (local pubs) are, so I might just see which one is owned by Barlettas . . . no I have not spoken to any other dealer . . . but I did talk to Mitsubishi Customer Swervice, and the lady did speak (reluctantly) with one of the technical staff, who said that the kit quoted by the local dealership (that milobob reported was not compatible with the MMCS) would work fine with the MMCS, so I am really confused now???
yep true . . . but they quoted me $572 for the part and $260 for installation . . . that seems like such a lot to have bluetooth/handsfree installed to me, especially since I found the kit on eBay for $350. But maybe there is a part of the installation process that only a dealership knows about to activate it or something to ensure customers get them to install it?? . . . anyway, the lady also gave me the number for a dealership in Mareeba (30 mins away) and Cairns (90 mins away), so I will talk to both of them before I do anything
just did that . . . the guy there said that the only kit available for the VR would definately NOT integrate with the MMCS. so called mack Mitsubishi Customer Service and a diffrerent person said to take it into a dealership and ask them to get further technical advice on whether there was a kit that would integrate with the MMCS . . . the guy from Mareeba also said that bluetooth should be built in to the MMCS, but I have not found any way of turning it on so far
