Thanks for your post Yatza :) That must've been an expensive fix! The master cylinder and the ABS and it still didn't fix the issue :( Was the braking problem on your truck constant or intermittent? If it's the callipers, is it likely that the problem would occur every 2-3 months or would it always ...

Hello toc, Thanks for checking up on the issue. Nothing new at the moment :( My dad has the car sitting in his garage and he's still trying to figure out what's going on. The problem only happens every 2-3 months but my dad can make the problem happen when stationary. He doesn't think it's the ABS b...

Thanks @toc. I read the link you sent - thanks! These events happened 5+ years apart, so they may not be related. But I just thought I'd mention it. Yes, the master cylinder was replaced (brand new, genuine Mitsubishi, $800 :() I had no idea I could ask for my old parts back because I'm now sure the...

Thanks @toc :) I also ran your previous suggestion of putting the car up on a hoist and checking if the wheels still spin. My dad has a pit but no hoist so he can't try that. I'll definitely send him your most recent suggestions too and see what he finds :) The Mitsubishi dealer and my dad both repr...

Thanks @toc I appreciate your thorough reply and advice :) Thank you. I talked to my dad and my brother about your suggestion today (my husband works away from home and is, well, not as good with cars as my dad and brother ). My dad got the brakes to fail and it seems that disengaging the ABS ...

I have now called three Mitsubishi dealers: they've all said my car (made April 2008) is not eligible for any outstanding recalls (I had the driver belt replaced as part of a recall but that's it).

:(

Hello Dora_Anne,
I did ask Mitsubishi about the booster recall. I gave them my VIN and they said I wasn't eligible :(

Hello everyone, I just wanted to update you all on my Lancer and the brake issue. I took it into Mitsubishi to have them look at it (they told me they had better and more specialised equipment than generic mechanics - not sure though, lol). But given I've taken it into another mechanic whom I've alw...

Thanks @dora_anne; Lancer1993 and toc :) For the first six years of my car's life, I took it to two Mitsubishi dealers for servicing. One of which was the dealer I bought the car from. I'm the only owner. They did send me a recall in Dec 2014 about a belt and replaced it, but never have they said an...

Thanks @burfadel and @mynaneisdaniel: I went and pumped the brake 3-4 times as suggested with the engine off. The brake pedal does become stiffer (but with force I could still press it down to a certain degree). I'm assuming that's healthy? Maybe it's normal because the brakes have been bled and it'...
