Actually some good news for me - the missing key turned up over the weekend. It was in a suitcase my mother (who is staying with us at the moment) has been packing to return the US with.

Glad she found it before she left!

Thanks for all the responses so far :) Hopefully Dire updates us if he's gone any further. I tried a locksmith in a mall (Westfield Marion for those in SA) and was told they couldn't do anything at all as 'Mitsubishi don't release the codes for 5 - 10 years' Another locksmith said they could cut and...

That's what the spare parts guy said - and the cost for them to do that was $115.. I thought it was bit odd but who am I to know.. I'm guessing the best way to go forward is to purchase the key, get a seperate locksmith to cut it (if they can.. have had varying responses), and the dealer to program ...

I saw OFEYS posts but buying the key itself is just half the riddle - and I wasn't sure if the dealer will code a key I supply, and who can cut them. I have since spoken to a dealer who said that mitsu's supply the key already cut to them, and that they just program it to the car (their charge for t...

Did you end up sorting this out cheaper than $349?

I have a less than two week old SX and over the weekend managed to lose one of the keys :( Have been through my entire house and the bin with no luck so am now down to 1 key. Don't really want to pay the extorsion price of $349 to replace it.
