Is it possible to replace that centre bit with another bit, say a black plastic bit instead of the body colour one?

hmm didnt realise there were so many factors, but i guess it is on the front end after all, and will most likely get chips and scratches so vinyl might be the way to go. But if its too thin it will most likely need to be replaced when it gets scratched, too thick and it cant be curled around the top...

I would like to know more about maybe an option of painting it instead as long as its not too pricey, cause i just know it will look better painted.

with your vinyl did you get it wrapped around the top and bottom?
