Guys, this is normal. The CVT will disengage itself in a sudden stop event, i.e. abs engagement. The CVT is disengaged, the car does its thing, its brain helps you control, and stop the car. When you want to drive away again, the cvt is re-engaged, but its been disconnected- hence, now its in "...

for a tip top shine, meguires all the way-except-a coat of nu finish prior to final coat of nxt wax. nu finish is brilliant. Cant go past an annual claying of the paint, prior to polishing/waxing for best results

Hi glen, i got my CVT tranny serviced at 45K, and it runs smooth as now. Well worth it. It cost me around $250-ish.

You can do it after the service, if its all been done, just take it back again. Well worth it, cars smoother, seems to have more 'go' in her.

cheers

FYI, the loom i got from the ebay link(1st post, non angel ones) have a full plug on them to go to the supplied switch, so your method might allow me to fe...

any chance of some pictures of your guys wiring through the firewall? 2 very different ways, and i dont like the online instructions i found. I just dont like the idea of drilling a hole and pulling a wire through the main wiring loom to the engine bay! that, and it ends up on the passenger side, be...

if itsstill up for grabs--i'd love it!!, if your happy to box it up for-i'll have a courier pick it up. My baby got cornered at the rear by a guy, and the smash repair never refitted the tip :(
i never did get around to replacing it...damn insurance -wasn't worth the argument!

hmm, tough call. not seeing them operate is a real disservice to the seller.
I'm thinking of getting the top ones, as they have a proper in-dash switch, much neater and pro install. the little hand controller for the ccfl's are very 'un-audi' when blutacked to the dash under the steering wheel imho.

CVT Oil Filter?

Quick-ish question:

When you replace the CVT fluid/oil at the scheduled service, is there a transmission fluid filter? I would imagine so, but i'm not 100%....

thanks for taking the time on that tate, good post, good info! :) i guess my main worry is the vehicle behaviour in a stability control intervention. From what you say, the sensors are the key point, not the ecu-brake calibration from the factory. Following on, assuming its accurate to CJ's, it moni...

Brake Upgrades, and Electronics

hiya gang! got an open sorta topic, looking for factual, expert opinions if possible.... Lets say, we upgrade our front brakes to a RA/VRX kit. Awesome! ;) The front brakes now have more braking force the the ECU "thinks" it has. This mechanical upgrade to torsional stopping power is great...

better off trying swirl-x. scratch x might be too abrasive for your needs.

ive used swirl x on some old paint, with good results. remember, u have to repolish/wax, for a protective layer to the paint. This will remove that layer.

Any more info on the 'heat damage' to CVT's?
From my understanding, the newer cj's had the trans cooler removed!
What temps/load we talking here? for N/A cars not-so-modded...(spirited, ehm, driving)
