Re: USB interface socket

I just installed a very similar one in behind my glovebox to power my dashcam. Super easy to install, and yeah, I agree, get the power from behind the cigarette lighter.

Re: 2008 Galant Fortis

Awesome, that looks fantastic. My unit is the 1st Gen MMCS, in the US/UK (and I assume also Japan) version that has the small knob in the bottom right corner. I don't actually have a Navigation DVD for it - so I assume I'll have to go searching for an .iso file to download and burn to disk.

Re: What did you do on your car today?

Almost every normal car needs the wheel nuts around 100. The workshop manual for these cars says 98 +/- 10. They were ridiculously overtight from the Oompa Loompas at the compliance workshop.

Re: 2008 Galant Fortis

The Chassis is CY4A-0108446.

My MMCS looks pretty similar- the same menu buttons are there but without the pretty icons yours shows. I'll see if I can find out the software version I have.

Re: What did you do on your car today?

First service on the Galant today: fluids were all changed right before I bought it, so today was just a general look-over and seeing what needs to be done. The tyres are roadworthy, just, so they're going to need to be replaced pretty soon, but I'll wait around til after Christmas and see what spec...

Re: 2008 Galant Fortis

Well this is sounding promising. There is no "original" VIN, but ASA should be able to find it by the Chassis number. I do have those three buttons under the steering wheel. The phone On-Hook and Off-Hook buttons don't do anything yet, because the car is probably well aware no phone is con...

Re: 2008 Galant Fortis

Ooh, that is good to know. Wonder if the module can be installed on a 2008?

Re: 2008 Galant Fortis

Yup, the Aux inputs, RCA Red/White/Yellow plugs are behind a flap below the A/C controls. But just those - I can't yet find the mobile phone connector cable. From the user manual for the MMCS it seems to show a standard Japanese DoCoMo phone connector plug, so converting that to a Lightning plug wil...

2008 Galant Fortis

I've just bought a 2008 Galant Fortis Super Exceed ナビ, freshly imported from Japan. It's got 106,000km, CVT, partial leather interior, and the MMCS that talks to me in a very sweet Japanese voice. Unfortunately the radio band is Japanese, so I will need a band expander, and the phone connection isn'...
