It may help, in theory.. no harm in doing it.
The pump does activate breifly on ABS start up check.

Potentially yes, although tapping mine made no difference, they were that stuck.

just a note on this thread incase anyone else is googling and comes across this. I fixed the fault. It was the motor brushes stuck, therefore not supplying power to activate the motor.
